Under 15’s Development won 2-1 away at Rossington Main.

Our opponents are notoriously difficult to play against, they have a good workrate and they are strong and physical.

With several players missing through injury and first team duty we have a little formation change which paid dividends.

I felt that Rossington edged the first half, certainly picking up more first and second balls than us but at the same time, we didn’t feel that they created many chances. Their best chance led to the first goal, a really good header from a corner and despite our keeper getting his hand to it, there was too much power.

Prior to the goal we’d had two excellent chances, one where Noah Coleman struck against the keeper and another was an excellent save from our header down in the bottom corner.

For us, a good team move saw Jacob Watson play in Denzell Gordon who struck brilliantly to equalise and take us in to the break at 1-1.

I felt that we then edged the second half, certainly creating more chances than our opponents. This led to a corner where the ball was pinged around the box before Noah slipped it to Faiz Agbabiaka who smashed home emphatically.

We moved things around after that to protect the lead and the work rate and reactions in those moments were very good as we won the points.

Man of the Match was Harry Blagg. Absolutely superb in the air, winning challenge after challenge and always dangerous from set pieces.
