In a tightly contested match, despite several strong chances and outstanding team effort, RSSC U13 Devs were narrowly defeated 1-0 by league favorites Maltby Main after a second-half penalty.
Maltby Main 1-0 RSSC U13 Devs
A brilliant game of football today with both sides defensively solid and goalkeeping of the highest order in display.
The boys had the best 3 chances of the game in quick fire in the first half with a free kick tipped over, then the resulting corner forcing a second great save from the Maltby keeper, for a second corner to be blazed just over from close range
The second half started with a soft penalty given away, and the opponents taking the lead.
After that there was few chances created with an outstanding midfield battle on display. We had the upper had but just couldn’t convert, with another strike from outside the area being saved down low.
Finally with 5 minutes to go, Mylo came up with the save of the game from a free kick around 25 yard out, seemingly destined for the top corner. The spring, the strength of the hand and the athleticism to get across to the ball we’re all first class.
The boys deserved more from the game, but just wasn’t to be today. Considering they’re the early league favourites, I can say I’m proud of the performance our boys put in today! Not many will beat us if we play like that this year
