RSG secured a dominant 7-1 victory over East Riding with a standout performance from the girls in a brilliant start to the season!
RSG 7 – 1 EAST RIDING
The girls were excellent tonight, right from kick off. 3 passes and scored within 5 seconds, with Savanna scoring a low finish into the bottom corner, which set the tempo of the first half. We played with a high press and won every first and second ball, playing some great football and going 3 up within the first 15mins. Isla Ogg ran through the middle and buried the ball in the net with a low finish and Isla Churm scoring a well taken goal from outside the box. Minnie then went onto beat 3 or 4 players to finish in the bottom corner.
I made some changes and they all added to the tempo of the game, with Alice winning the ball in their box and getting a goal. Going to 5-1 by half time. If there was a constructive point, we just didn’t deal with the high ball good enough when their keeper went long.
The second half got a bit scrappy as they tried to make a fight of it but our girls eventually started to play again and could have had double figures, with their keeper pulling off a few good saves.
It was a good last 10 mins which saw us score 2 more, Scarlett with a good finish direct from a corner and Ava with a good individual goal at the end.
